As evidenced by the Guardian[1], Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) continue to be in the news as water quality managers battle them on a daily basis.
UNESCO recently published a document[2] that is an excellent primer and points out that HABs cause direct and indirect negative impacts to aquatic ecosystems, coastal resources, and human health. They are present in nearly all aquatic environments as naturally occurring phenomena, and many HABs are increasing in severity, frequency, and bio-geographical range.
We know from our experience with water quality managers that the management of HABs is complex and requires in-depth technical knowledge that is not always accessible.
D2K is proud to introduce AlgaeWatch™, our latest Information EngineTM module which automates the problematic interpretation of laboratory-derived algal data and provides a simple, understandable algal risk assessment.
